1. What Are the Different Types of Wristbands Available?

Wristbands in Ireland are available in a range of materials, each suited to specific event needs. The four most common types of wristband materials include:

  • Tyvek Wristbands: Ideal for single-day events for 24-48 hours. They're lightweight, waterproof, tear-resistant, and cost-effective. Often used for concerts, school trips, and admissions.
  • Silicone Wristbands: Known for comfort and durability. These are used by charities for awareness campaigns, fundraising, or long-term promotions. Available in printed, debossed, or colour-filled styles.
  • Vinyl Wristbands: Stronger than Tyvek, can be worn for days or even weeks and are perfect for multi-day events such as festivals or conferences. Often come with features like detachable tabs for food or drink redemption.
  • Fabric Wristbands: A premium option, ideal for festivals, VIP access, and brand visibility. Can be woven or printed, and include closure options like barrel locks and beads depending on if the wristband should be removable or not.

Choosing the right type depends on budget, intended use, duration, and the event's tone.

2. How Do I Choose the Right Wristband for My Event?

Choosing the correct wristband involves evaluating several key factors that we list below. There may be other priorities for your event or venue but the below should help most customers decide which is the best wristband for them:

  • Event Duration: For one-day events, Tyvek wristbands are cost-efficient and tamper-proof. For multi-day access, go with vinyl or fabric, which are more durable
  • Audience Type: Silicone bands are suitable for all ages, often used in schools and charities. Fabric or vinyl is better for adults in VIP or concert settings where the wristband should not be removed.
  • Security Needs: Barrel-lock closures on fabric or vinyl ensure non-transferability. Tyvek bands are tamper-evident and destroy when removed - perfect for managing entry and access at nightclubs.
  • Branding: Fabric and silicone allow for detailed branding. Choose full-colour printing on sublimated fabric designs for maximum visibility. Full colour print on Fabric bands is the best option in terms of price as silicone wristbands are calculated on a per colour basis.
  • Budget: Tyvek is the most economical, while fabric wristbands are on the higher end due to production and material quality. Prices vary depending on the order quantity and how many designs are required.

Consider the overall experience you want to offer and match your choice to your event’s identity.

3. Can I Customise Wristbands With My Logo and Text?

Yes, all of our wristband types can be customised with logos, text, colours and even QR codes or barcodes.

  • Fabric Wristbands: Best for full-colour prints or dye sublimated logos and designs with sharp detail. Great for branding and sponsor visibility.
  • Silicone Wristbands: Offer debossing, colour fill, or printing. They’re ideal for slogans and campaign names to raise awareness.
  • Vinyl Wristbands: Can include logos, text, and even tear-off tabs printed with specific messages or icons such as food or drinks.
  • Tyvek Wristbands: Allow one-colour or two-colour prints. Logos can be placed beside or above text for clarity. Print in black is recommended for tyvek bands.

Ensure your files are high-resolution (usually 300 dpi) for the best print quality. PNG or AI files with transparent backgrounds work best for logos.

4. What Are the Minimum and Maximum Order Quantities?

Wristbands are available with the below minimum quantities for any printed or plain order:

  • Minimums: Generally start at 100 units for silicone, Tyvek, or fabric wristbands. This is the number for any one design - meaning that there is a minimum order of 100 units per design. We cannot supply 50 units of a design and 50 units of a different design. All 100 units must be the same. We can offer a free colour breakdown of wristbands on larger orders.
  • Maximums: There’s no strict upper limit—bulk orders of 10,000+ are common for festivals and campaigns with reduced prices

Larger orders often qualify for volume discounts, making it more economical per unit. More information can be found on our pricing page

5. How Long Does It Take to Produce Custom Wristbands?

Production times vary depending on the type of wristband and the level of customisation required. Below is a quick summary for any customers with a tight dealdine:

  • Tyvek: 1–2 days (express 24 hour delivery options may be available to certain cities - if the order is placed before 12pm)
  • Vinyl: 10-14 days including delivery
  • Silicone: 7–14 days including delivery
  • Fabric: 7–14 days including delivery (express options: 6–9 days)

Always factor in shipping time, which depends on your location and delivery method. For urgent needs please contact our sales team who will be able to confirm if we can meet your deadline.

6. Are Wristbands Waterproof and Durable?

Yes, almost all of our wristbands are designed for durability and water resistance which is why they are commonly used at hotels and water parks among other venues:

  • Tyvek: Water-resistant but intended for short-term use such as events and will start to wear down after being worn for 48 hours.
  • Silicone: Fully waterproof, reusable, and ideal for outdoor use or swimming. These can be removed once worn.
  • Vinyl: Durable, waterproof, and ideal for multi-day wear such as at hotels. The lock mechanism means these cannot be removed once worn.
  • Fabric: Designed for extended wear; water and sweat-resistant. Also available in recycled plastic material.

For high-contact events like sporting matches or festivals, vinyl and fabric wristbands offer the best mix of strength and comfort.

7. Can Wristbands Be Used for Security and Access Control?

Absolutely. Wristbands are widely used for crowd management and entry control with the following attributes helping security staff manage entry control at venues:

  • Custom printing can differentiate guests (e.g., VIP vs general entry vs staff). With a huge range of colours to choose from making it even easier.
  • Barrel-locks on fabric wristbands prevent transfer once the wristband is worn. Tyvek wristbands are also non removable once worn.
  • Numbering or QR codes can be added for scanning and access tracking. This feature will depend on the system being used to scan the wristbands.
  • Tabs on vinyl wristbands can serve as meal or drink vouchers.

They act as both a visual identifier and, when enhanced with tech, a functional security tool.

8. Are There Eco-Friendly Wristband Options?

Yes, there are several environmentally conscious options for customers to choose eco-friendly wristbands in Ireland as below:

  • Recycled Fabric Wristbands: Made from post-consumer materials, ideal for eco-events. rPET wristbands are a great way to be eco friendly at your next event
  • Biodegradable Tyvek: Offers environmental benefits for single-use applications, but cannot be worn in or around water due to the degradation.
  • Litter Free Tyvek: These wristbands reduce litter as the detachable tab that covers the adhesive area does not get removed from the wristband when worn.
  • Silicone Bands: While not biodegradable, they are reusable and long-lasting, reducing waste over time.

Wristbands Ireland is dedicated to minimising our carbon footprint where possible and offering customers the chance to choose recycled or organic materials such as bamboo or wood where possible.

9. How Can I Design My Wristbands If I Don’t Have Graphic Design Skills?

Our simple and easy to use online design tool allows customers to upload a logo and text to create a unique design with a real time preview on screen showing what the wristbands would look like when printed. For most customers the standard designer will be sufficient to add text and/or a logo. For customers who want to add more than one logo our drag-and-drop interface allows placement and resizing for a more customized experience. Simply follow the steps below:

  • Upload logos
  • Add and position text
  • Select fonts and colours
  • See a real-time preview
